The UUID Attribute Syntax defines a syntax for attribute values that can hold values that represent universally unique identifiers (UUIDs).
In most cases, values of attributes with a UUID syntax can be compacted to either 16 or 17 bytes. Values which do not contain any uppercase characters will be compacted to 16 bytes, which is just the raw representation of the hexadecimal values included in the UUID. Values in which all allowed alphabetic characters are expressed in uppercase will be 17 bytes, which will be a single-byte prefix (to indicate the use of uppercase characters) and the 16 bytes comprising the compacted value. Values that contain a mix of uppercase and lowercase characters will not be compacted.
